Welcome to SummerHouse 65!
Hi, I'm Lynn - the maker behind SummerHouse 65.
My studio is a pretty little summerhouse in the middle of my garden surrounded by flowers, plants and wildlife.
I hope you enjoy my original artwork which is all made with a sense of fun to make you smile.
What I make...
I work in mixed media, found objects and textiles and often incorporate free machine embroidery somewhere along the line. I am fascinated with layers and textures and the way different mediums can be combined, often with surprising results. I hand print all of my collage papers to make unique patterns and textures. Currently, I am dabbling with abstract painting enjoying the juxtaposition of shapes and colours.
I never quite know how my work will turn out so I allow it to develop organically. Most of my pieces are slightly wonky and quirky and I like nothing better than to find or reuse something and turn it into something else.
I find myself inspired by so many things including the natural world and historical artefacts. I have a particular fondness for swifts and many of my pieces have a little swift hiding somewhere.
